This week we take the time to investigate the impact that the pandemic has generated in the modality and structure of the work spaces, with the purpose of communicating what will be the changes that will be presented at the moment of returning to normality.

As we all know, at the beginning of the pandemic, preventive regulations forced companies to implement remote work for all, or most of their collaborators, marking the beginning of an evolution in activities, pushing companies to seek solutions so that everyone would have the necessary tools to work.

However, the end of the pandemic is uncertain and we still do not know for sure when we will be able to resume our activities in a normal way. However, in the case of offices, change is here to stay and it is up to companies to develop the new work spaces.

According to the results of an investigation carried out by JLL (Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated)*:

  • 71% worked from home during the pandemic
  • 58% missed their office (65% among young professionals under 35)
  • 44% missed human interaction and socializing with colleagues
  • Only 48% felt more productive at home than at the office

Taking into account these data we can observe 2 fundamental points:

 1) Working remotely does not guarantee positive talent productivity.

 2) It is of utmost importance to maintain face-to-face interaction between colleagues.

This great impact, has generated the creation of a new form of "hybrid" work, that although it had not been heard, its objective is to create a balance between the remote and presential work.

Deloitte in his article "Entre lo presencial y remoto" comments; "The key of the future in the labor dynamics will be that the companies do not lose the proximity with their professionals and take advantage in each one of their processes, the virtues of the remote and presential work".

Working in a hybrid way will open the doors to thousands of companies to redesign or reorganize their offices, including supporting their employees to have adequate spaces at home to carry out their activities remotely.

For this reason we recommend you to start with the project of expansion, reduction, redesign or reorganization of your work spaces, which could cause the change of location of your offices or the migration to a Coworking. It is important to start this planning as soon as possible in order to have a friendly transition with the hybrid way of working, generating efficiency and comfort to your talent at the moment when you resume your face-to-face activities in a partial or definitive way.

Whether you need to redesign your offices or move, get advice from an expert, this will make planning and execution easier, avoiding mistakes in the process. We can guide you with the right companies and people to find the solution that best suits your needs.
